Crash type: Solo crash
Geometry: Bike lost stability and crashed
Description: My front wheel slid on the wet/icy rail and I was not able to react quickly enough to keep from falling. Add note to this report
Factors & Lessons
Factor: Poor surface material, very slippery when wet
Factor: Cyclist speed
Explanation: This is a very dangerous chicane. I have fallen here twice in icy conditions. The width of the chicane and oblique angle of the crossing tracks makes it difficult to cross the rails perpendicularly.
Lesson: Ride slower in hazardous areas
Lesson: Pay more attention to road surface
Explanation: tuck and roll to avoid broken collar bone (been there, done that)
