Crash type:
Collision with motor vehicle
Geometry:
Vehicle turned after stop
Vehicle type:
Car
Description:
I was riding down the road in a bike lane. The car approached from a side street on my left and came to a stop at the stop sign. The car signaled and turned left onto the road I was on and I hit the car. I could see the driver clearly as they pulled out onto the road. Even though they were turning to the left, they only looked to the right and therefore never saw me as I was approaching from their left side. I was able to anticipate the car pulling out and immediately turned to the left, so I made more of a glancing blow off the back half of the side of the car instead of a full t-bone style hit. The driver of the vehicle was a middle-aged woman and she was more shaken up than I was. There was a vehicle legally parked between the bike lane and the curb. This may have made it harder to see me. It was dawn or a little later, and I had a headlight on my bike. I was not seriously injured so I continued my commute to work. I did not notify the police or receive medical treatment. My bike was fine except for some scrapes to the handlebar and torn handlebar tape. Add note to this report
