Solo crash at 201-225 Silver Lake Blvd
reported by Higee
Date:
2009-11-11
Crash type:
Solo crash
Geometry:
Bike lost stability and crashed
Description:
I was going to turn left on Virgil so I looked back to check for vehicles. Clear, so I banked to the left. The road was uneven and my front wheel did not get to "climb" the higher (left) portion causing me to fall on my left side.
The road looks like a tetris block with uneven slabs connected together. I see that I'm the second crash (reported) in this location. If I had read about the previous crash, I might have saved myself a month of pain. Add note to this report
Factors & Lessons
Factor:
Uneven road
Explanation:
I usually just go straight to the stop light then cross to the left on Virgil using the pedestrian lane when the light permits but traffic was light so I decided to change lanes early and use the left turn lane.
Lesson:
Pay more attention to road surface
Explanation:
I was looking back so I did not notice the uneven road surface.
