Helmet Check Area: I've hired a Brewer's Blackbird to check whether riders are wearing their helmets. It is an annual contract for early spring of each year. This bird will swoop down on you to see whether or not your are wearing your helmet. If not, I've given permission for a peck on the head to remind riders to wear helmets while riding their bikes. Greg R.: "I rode out the ODT this afternoon around 5:30 PM and discovered a fresh slide . . . Several large trees and mud completely blocking the trail. It must have happened sometime this afternoon, as some bike commuters told me they came westbound this morning and it was clear."
