Drivers are reluctant to go over the yellow line when passing cyclists due to the rumble strips in the middle of the road. That, combined with a narrow, overgrown shoulder and high auto and truck speeds results in minimal clearance between passing vehicles and the cyclist and hazards not only from collisions but the wind created, especially by trucks.
