Location: 246-498 Ferry Dock, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110, USA
Priority: High annoyance
Status: Pending
Description: When disembarking from the Bainbridge Ferry, bicyclists have a choice of taking a bike path to the left (South), or riding in the street with the cars. Few bikers choose the path as it takes a circuitous route through the loading lot and terminates back at the street only a short way up the hill, where you're faced with the same problem: either riding with the cars coming off the ferry (they will be very upset with you), on the sidewalk against the pedestrians heading to the ferry (they will be very upset with you), or into the lane of oncoming traffic (obviously bad: see http://media.pnwlocalnews.com/images/11023web.ferry.commute.jpg). Three bad choices! If you are a really fast rider, you can get to the top of the hill and turn before the unloading cars catch up to you. Full report

Description: This abrupt end to the bike lane comes at the bottom of a long hill. Bicyclists must move immediately into the MV lane or crash into a ditch. The safest thing may be to stay out of bike lane and use the MV lane. Ideally, the COBI should extend the bike lane to the signal at Madison and HWY 305 Full report
