Description:
single-direction grate with gaps of more than an inch, almost two inches, underlaid with a second single-direction grate crosswise from the first... but the lower grate is too far beneath the upper one to prevent it from partially swallowing bike tires. Also, the outer frame of the grate is broken at one corner, & one slat of the frame rises about 2.5" from the asphalt surface. Nasty sewer water keeps the lower grill mostly submerged & laps at the upper grill. Both grills are dished inwards by the weight of frequent automobile traffic. Note that my tires in the photo are 2" wide. Full report

This road is used by cranky commuters and arrogant golfers. The commuter problem will be addressed in separate report. As for the golfers, they always speed and are very aggressive to make their 'tee time'.
The road from Travel Town to Crystal Springs Dr. (Rangers Station) has hills and blind curves. We all know how belligerent and arrogant motorists can be. Even in our beloved Griffith Park they are inexorably taking over all the roads they can drive on. Full report

On the South-East side of the Laurel Canyon / Magnolia intersection (near Jon's Market), in and around the crosswalk just off the sidewalk are a series of fairly large, 3-5 inches deep potholes and chunks missing from the pavement. The road is also very rough in that area. I've come close to taking a spill when not paying enough attention. Full report

Description:
The "arroyo bike path" is actually just a channelized creek, paved with concrete. Certainly in the running for America's Sketchiest Bike Path. Great place to mug people: no way to get out of the river channel (high walls, chain link fences on either side). Most female cyclists I know unwilling to ride alone. Don't know anyone who would consider riding it at night with less than 50 friends. Obviously also unsafe when there's a chance of thunderstorms upstream, or other significant precipitation. Description:
Walt Disney Concert Hall does not appear to have any bike parking. As a county facility, it is not required to follow the municipal guidelines requiring bike parking equal to 2% of car parking, as close as or closer to entrance than the handicapped car parking. WTF? We should be able to access this (expensive) cultural icon by bike. Also interesting to note that the temporal frequency of events at Disney Hall is to some degree mandated by the requirement that the parking structure pay for itself... see UCLA professor Don Shoup's book "The High Cost of Free Parking" for more information. Description:
Large potholes near the shoulder/gutter, manhole cover, and fast-moving traffic pose a significant danger to cyclists. Best bet is to wait until a group of cars has passed, then go out after them. Or you can take the sidewalk, but the sidewalk also has many raised slabs of concrete due to tree roots lifting them up. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SKINNY WHEELS! I pinch-flatted and almost got hit. Description:
The bicycle path at Venice Beach is a hazard for cyclist and there have been injuries and accidents there. This path is designed ONLY for bicycles and frequently there will be people who step into the path without looking. There is a dedicated foot path, but people generally use the bike path for strolls and crossing to the beach. In addition, bicycles from the opposite direction tend to travel at an unsafe speed (due to the conditions) and frequently cross the line into oncomming traffic. It is against the law for pedestrians to utilize the bike path---but the law is not enforced. I have reported this unsafe condition to the appropriate govt agencies and they dismissed the importance. There have been many accidents as a result of the existing conditions. Full report

Stay clear of this area during Dodger games. The Raider Nation-esq crowd tends to thrive. They have no real interest in the game. Their main sport is drinking beer, driving cars and eye balling anything that looks expensive. Itâs a fun and challenging ride.. swerving around âswerving driversâ and pedestrians. But over all a dangerous spot if you ride a bike that doesnât say HUFFY on it. Full report
