Time of crash 8:46AM
No auto traffic at time of crash. Cyclist travelling at a moderate pace, direction of traffic on a one way street. Cyclist had difficulty changing gears on the front chainring. Cyclist shifted focus from his direction to the chainring to ensure shift was completed. Eyes were averted from road for a total of 20 seconds. Pedestrian was crossing street and had crossed a 2/3 point in the road. Cyclist was along the right side of the street. Pedestrian's focus was on his cell phone. Both cyclist and pedestrian recognized the possibility of a crash at a terminal point and collision occurred. Pedestrian was struck but appeared stable. Cyclist fell to the ground after twisting the left knee. Full report |
