Description:
I was riding with 15 or so other riders.
We were riding in a double paceline but fully contained in the bike lane on Summit Avenue. I was last bike and was riding in the left-hand third of the bicycle lane - fully within the bike lane lines. Vehicle's mirror struck the left-hand seat post of my recumbant bicycle. It was obvious that the driver's car had drifted to the right into the marked bicycle lane. I went down. I skidded approximately 10-15 meters. Driver did stop and give his information. He admitted to driving over the speed limit despite having some trouble seeing due to the rising sun. He begged us to not call the police. I should have called the police. Full report

Morning ride with approximately 15 other riders. I was on a recumbant.
We were riding in a double pace line but fully contained in the bike lane. I was last bike on the inside side of the bike lane. Car hit me from behind. Mirror struck the seat post on my left side. I went down and skidded approximately 10-15 meters. The car had drifted into the bike lane. The driver admitted to driving above the speed limit despite having some trouble seeing well due to the rising sun. Full report |
