Geometry: Bike lost stability and crashed
Injury: Serious
Description: I was going to turn left on Virgil so I looked back to check for vehicles. Clear, so I banked to the left. The road was uneven and my front wheel did not get to "climb" the higher (left) portion causing me to fall on my left side.

The road looks like a tetris block with uneven slabs connected together.

I see that I'm the second crash (reported) in this location. If I had read about the previous crash, I might have saved myself a month of pain. Full report

Description: I was riding north along Sawtelle Blvd and near the intersection of Missouri ave. There was a lady in her car approaching the intersection heading east (there is a stop sign on Missouri, no stop signs on Sawtelle). I assumed (my mistake) that she would stop at the intersection but she made a 'rolling stop' and kept going straight. I slammed on my brakes while veering right and she didn't immediately stepped on the brakes. Fortunately the car stop within one inch (I am serious) of my front wheel and I simply gave her look while pointing her the stop sign. Geometry: Bullet hit cyclist from behind.
Injury: Life_threatening
Description: Last Friday night, a group of riders were pedaling through Highland Park when a group of alleged gangsters at a house party decided it would be a good time to mess with the riders by swinging baseball bats and shovels at them, trying to knock them off their bikes. Usually when these attacks happen, riders take advantage of their two wheels and get away as quickly as possible; but when a young lady was knocked down, several riders went back to assist.

The clubs versus U-Locks stalemate was broken when one of the alleged gangsters opened fire with a handgun, striking one of the cyclists in the back. At that point, the attackers went back into their house and the police were summoned.

Frantic posts on twitter on other bike message boards report that arrests were made, including the alleged shooter, and the victim was taken away by ambulance. The bullet was partially slowed by the cyclists' backpack and is currently lodged a quarter inch away from his spine. Doctors are hoping that muscles work the bullet out naturally and don't feel that he is in any immediate danger. Following the ethics of these sort of rides, his friends have already returned his bicycle. Full report

Geometry: Vehicle overtook from rear

Description: The incident occured as a small group of about twelve riders turned right from Los Angeles St to 7th St. As the group turned, a Hummer which had been honking at the group hit and injured a rider, who spent the night in the ER for ankle injuries. His friends helped him to the curb, and the Hummer stopped. However, the motorist then tried to flee the scene, as cyclists tried to record the license plate number. Two cyclists quickly blocked its path as the passengers and cyclists yelled at each other.

Eventually the driver drove into the cyclists, who narrowly escaped severe injury by scattering. The Hummer ran over at least three bikes, destroying them, and smashing a cyclist in her thigh with a bike in the process. He then drove down one block, turned onto Main St., where he was pulled over by LAPD.

The occupants of the car fled on foot, and though LAPD caught the driver, several of the passengers escaped. Those passengers returned later to threaten the group of cyclists, saying that if they spoke with police, they would return “60 crips deep.”

After a large group of police officers interviewed the witnesses and the suspects they released the driver, who drove off without a ticket. Officer Cho, the officer in charge at the scene then approached the cyclists. He first told the group:

Get everyone together because I don’t want to say this twice. If anyone says anything I’m gonna walk away and I’m not going to talk to you guys. Based on the evidence right now it looks like the cyclist hit the car, not that the car hit the cyclist.

Cyclist then argued with him, pointing out that the driver of the Hummer was dislodging a bicycle from underneath his vehicle when the police pulled him over. Officer Cho then responded, saying “if it had been me with my family in that car, I’d have done the same thing, and I carry a gun in my car.”

XXXXX was hit while traveling in the farthest right lane of traffic from behind by a black hummer h3. The hummer then came to a stop at the red light of 7th and Los angeles( twenty or so feet from where XXXXX was hit). They then rolled all of the windows down and told us to get away because ”they had a gun\guns” . . .

. . . Following this a large(6′2”+) Black man dressed in jeans and a long white t-shirt stepped out of the passenger side and put his arms out saying ”back the fuck away I have a gun”. His party urged him back into the vehicle, and when YYYYY (of our g Full report
